Khanqah-e-Moula
The Khanqah-e-Moula, also known as Shah-e-Hamadan Mosque, is one of the oldest and most revered religious shrines in Srinagar. Situated on the banks of the Jhelum River in the heart of the Old City, it was built in memory of the revered Persian saint Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani, who played a significant role in spreading Islam and promoting art, culture, and craftsmanship in Kashmir. The shrine holds immense spiritual and historical importance and attracts devotees and visitors throughout the year.
Renowned for its exquisite wooden architecture, the shrine showcases traditional Kashmiri craftsmanship with intricately carved woodwork, papier-mâché decorations, vibrant interiors, and a beautifully designed multi-tiered roof. The peaceful atmosphere and timeless beauty of the shrine offer visitors a unique glimpse into Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage and architectural traditions.
Overlooking the serene Jhelum River and surrounded by the historic lanes of Srinagar, Khanqah-e-Moula is a symbol of faith, history, and artistic excellence. Whether you are seeking spiritual solace, exploring Kashmir’s architectural treasures, or discovering the city’s cultural legacy, this iconic shrine offers a truly memorable and enriching experience.
